2020 Nuts and Bolts Workshop

We are pleased to present our annual Nuts and Bolts workshops. 

This year we have broadened the workshop into two distinctive days, "the Wheels" for all officers with a finance component to their role and "the Gears" tailored for finance officers.

We will discuss the new revenue recognition and lease standards, along with the foreshadowed changes to the regulations within the workshops.

The Wheels

A Non Finance Perspective
The ‘wheels’ day is designed for officers from all areas of local government with a finance component in their role. The workshop provides a solid foundation to local government finance. The following topics will be covered:
 
  • basics and terminology;
  • indirect costs and cost reallocations;
  • asset accounting;
    • depreciation and asset life
    • understanding asset costs
    • strategic asset management basics
  • leases;
  • procurement controls;
  • introduction to risk management;
  • project management basics; and 
  • what to look for in your financial statements.
Who is the event for?
Level: Basic

Officers from all areas who manage project budgets and have finance responsibilities - for example, Works Managers, Supervisors, Asset Managers and Officers, Planners, and new to industry Finance Officers. 

 

The Gears

A Finance Perspective
The ‘gears’ day has a specific focus for officers working in finance. The workshop starts with basics and progresses to the common reconciliation processes, balance day adjustments and finally looks at the monthly reporting requirements. The following key areas will be covered:  
  
  • basics and terminology;
  • reconciliations and controls;
  • revenue recognition;
  • contract liabilities;
  • balance day adjustments; 
  • monitoring indirect costs and cost reallocations;
  • financial controls and procedures;
  • monthly reporting; and
  • what your financial statements tell you. 
Who is the event for?
Level: Basic to intermediate

Officers with an accounting/finance focus who are new to local government, their role or those looking for a refresher or deeper understanding - for example, Manager of Finance, Accountants, Senior Finance Officers, Finance Officers or similar.

Pricing

When booking two or more registrations a 25% discount will apply on checkout.

Nuts and Bolts $860 + GST $645 + GST each
 

Discounts and GST will be added at registration checkout.

Additional Information

Cost includes workshop manual, morning and afternoon tea and lunch.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that circumstances may arise which prevent a delegate from attending once registered.  In that instance, our policy is to accept a substitute.  In the event that cancellation of the registration is made, Moore Australia (WA) Pty Ltd will charge a 30% fee to meet administration costs for registrations cancelled more than 9 days prior to the workshop.  No refund can be made for cancellations less than 9 days prior to the workshop.
